Two brand-new patterns have debuted in the Hyphyn® Biodegradable Vinyl upholstery collection. Joining the previously introduced Mesquite and Petrichor, Vida and Cypress celebrate reuse and the consideration of a product’s entire lifecycle.
Cypress features an authentic leather-like emboss and a color line full of natural tanned and warm neutral tones, and rich, dyed shades. The look harkens to heirloom leather bags and jackets that can last for generations when properly cared for. Vida, a beautiful, multi-layered print on a canvas-like emboss, was inspired by the phenomenon of upcycled clothing — specifically, old sari garments transformed into bomber jackets. The exclusive pattern interprets the designs used on sari fabric, the rhythms of the sashiko stitching used in the upcycling process, and even the footprint that wear leaves on the reused fabric.
Vida and Cypress reflect the same consideration of product lifecycle inherent to all Hyphyn biodegradable upholstery textiles. Hyphyn is a coated upholstery product that, while in use, performs to the same high standards as Wolf-Gordon’s other vinyl upholstery textiles. Thanks to a proprietary enzyme embedded in the vinyl and backing, however, Hyphyn biodegrades 90% in an anaerobic landfill environment at the end of its useful life, leaving behind inert gases and non-toxic biomass.
