Mother Earth is celebrated in our latest campaign with two upholstery patterns inspired by macro and micro views of Nature. All five upholstery textiles are high performing and bleach cleanable, designed for today’s stringent cleaning/disinfecting protocols.
When developing Stroma and Nakata, WG Design Studio was inspired by major exhibitions mounted at the Salone in Milan (“Broken Nature” at the Triennale and “Il Meraviglioso Mondo della Natura” at the Palazzo Reale).
Starting with an aerial photograph of wine vineyards, line sketches were created of the meandering, woody trails. The drawings went through several evolutions before being interpreted into the stitched, organic pattern of Nakata.
The captivating lace-like effect of cellular wood viewed under a microscope led to Stroma, where the studio twisted float yarns into a mesh pattern bound to a tightly woven ground. The result carries a delicate appearance while maintaining high-performance standards.
