Artistans have long drawn inspiration from the Burmese, Chinese, and European influences fused into the art and culture of Chiang Mai, Thailand's ancient city.
The pattern that bears its name reflects a similar cross-fertilization with its handcrafted grasscloth look made functional with Type II vinyl.
Irregular streaks of variegated earth tones and metallics overprinted with tiny strokes in browns, gold, or silver inks are enhanced with a woven embossed texture that solidifies the effect.
