The beauty and majesty of the striated mountains seen throughout the US Southwest is captured in this large-scale design. Inspired by the banded stripes and natural hues of Navajo blankets seen at the Museum of New Mexico, Laguna joins our “Origins” collection of wallcoverings.
The earliest blankets woven by skilled Navajo craftspeople were simple striped patterns made on primitive hand-operated looms using the natural wools of gray, brown, tan, white, and black from Churro sheep. Laguna is named for a Native American Pueblo tribe, from whom the Navajo craftspeople learned the art of weaving in the 17th century.
